Last Night before HavDalah we were reading/discussing the Torah portion. We started with Exodus 30:11 and ended at 32:10 because the discussion got deep with just those first 10 verses of chapter 32. Let me put those here for you.
1And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.
2And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me.
3And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron.
4And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
5And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD.
6And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.
7And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves:
8They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
9And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:
10Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.
Aaron learns a lesson here that humbles him for further service as high priest. He gave into the pressure and made the people what they asked for but tried to keep "one foot" in YHWH's camp by saying it was just an image to represent the very G-D who brought them up out of Egypt and so they were going to offer a feast complete with offerings unto it but also mix in a little of the cultural feast things they learnt in Egypt as well...just for familiarity, comfort, to please the masses etc....
This brought us to discuss how 12/25 and the other so called "christian" day are nothing more than golden calves in our generations. We've come up with our own way to worship YHWH. We say something is "OK" because we're doing it in remembrance of HIM and attributing it to HIM.
When we learn something is wrong, should we continue there in just because everyone else is still caught up in it?
I pray YHWH moves and brings more people into the truth of Romans chapter 11 and Ephesians chapter 2 and the book of Jacob ((you know this as James because of King James wanting a book in the Bible named after him but Yeshua's brother was really named Jacob who wrote this book...think about it and he had a wife and children so someone on this planet may be able to trace their ancestory to Mary and on back....hmmm..I digress)) That yes it's faith but faith without works is trampled on.
I love Torah! It explains every aspect of the fact that we should not always dwell on what we are saved from so much as what we are saved to or the purpose of our salvation. The Torah spells out the gospel message beginning right there in the first 5 books of the Bible. And if that's not enough there are 61 more books to get your attention. We also have many lessons we can learn from the people in just Genesis through Deuteronomy.
Our discussion last night went from here to the cheap grace that's being taught in some churches across America and how one dad there does not want to expose his children to it nor any other things that one day they may find out are not totally correct.
That segwayed into how bad public schools have become and those words were straight from the mouths of two teachers who work at one. One of whom confirmed that of the 7-8 hours a day a child is there, that only 3 of those hours are productive instruction...and that's a room full of kids, with my one child we shouldn't take 3 hours to complete a days worth of studies. I didn't get around to asking those teachers if they truly felt that public school was "real life" as my DH and many in his family commonly think.
We also discussed whether it's possible to get ahold of those in charge at churches so the Truth can get out there.....
This morning as DH and DS were getting ready to go the AG church and I my Intro to Jewish Roots class, DH informs me that his family and church members find me strange because I spent a few years in a church that meets in someone's living room and why would I want to with the blessing of church buildings now. Then he as usual accused me of being cultish because of this Yeshua thing when it's Jesus...just like his name is Joey but people call him Joe, he says same diff. Then he tells me that his mom has decided to take me up on my invite to the next Shabbat service that my Intro class is having and DH says he may come if he is not working but just one time and that he is not buying into any of it. He also took offense at my concerns that my own son may learn some things at his church that are not completely/wholly Biblical.
And that brings us full circle back to the golden calf incident. I can not just zip my lips and continue attending a church knowing the Truth. I can not go along with the masses because then I would be falsely worshipping YHVH and that's an abomination. Because the catholic church in which we get many of the things we do in so called protestant churches is just a mix of a whole bunch of gobbledy gook that I want no part of. I only want what YHWH has said...no babylonian influences.
Deuteronomy 12:30-32
30Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.
31Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.
32What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
This morning at Intro class we learned that a local cemetary ((er uh seminary)) will have a new class teaching how G-D's law is Torah starting next fall. And a local conference that is held right here that many preachers from all over attend for training is considering having a class on why they should be teaching Jewish studies to their congregation. Your prayers are needed here. Move hand of YHWH move!!!
J.B. also told us to
Remember the Jews don't hate Christians, but they are afraid of them....why, read your history books.
I want to end with something I heard on a local radio broadcast today:
Does your pastor only preach that the Jews rejected Jesus so therefore they've been rejected and the church replaces them? Jeremiah 31 tells us the house of Israel and Judah is who the new covenant is made with not the church, you have to be part of Israel or grafted in via Yeshua. In order for YHVH to be G-D of all, HE must be G-D of Israel. And peace for Israel will mean peace for all.
Leviticus 22:10-11 really spells it out for us
10There shall no stranger eat of the holy thing: a sojourner of the priest, or an hired servant, shall not eat of the holy thing.
11But if the priest buy any soul with his money, he shall eat of it, and he that is born in his house: they shall eat of his meat.
Who is The High Priest after the order of Melchizedek who paid for you? ah ha....eye opening ain't it!!!
((speaking of Melchizedek, the king of Salem....wouldn't that mean where Mount Moriah was there should be a town close to it? Salem, Jabesh-Gilead, then Jerusalem..... does anyone understand my train of thought?))
Psalm 122:6
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.
