Where have I been?
May 18th - June 1st Speech class....so far we've had lots of busy work assignments and I have been doing good on those. We have given 2 speeches so far. I got 22 out of 25 points on my first and 47 out of 50 points on my second. I have to give a persuasive speech tomorrow and we have a group symposium on Thursday. I am not sure if we will actually get through everything in just 2 days or if it will take longer. Continued prayers appreciated.
People I have met - 2 gals in the class are muslim. I wasn't sure if they were just because they still lived at home or what. I have heard them use curse words - and yes I know some don't think this is wrong but I would think their religion would say it is...also one of the gals wears thong undies and has her nose pierced and I can't imagine they don't have a rule against that. One gal gave her informative speech today on the palestinian/Israeli conflict. She said if we recognize Israel than we don't recognize palestine and vice versa. She said that palestine is like her 2nd home and then she asked if we were told we had to get off our land, would we go or stay and fight. I have talked to her outside of class and she did ask something interesting. Since she speaks both arabic and English, she herself wonders what language do bi-linguals think in? Good question...anyone else bilingual that can answer?
Today a little after 1pm when I pulled in our parking lot, I smelled natural gas and could hear a hissing sound. The direction the wind was blowing and the direction of the sound clued me in that it was the 4-plex next door. When I opened my door, I asked DH if he could smell the gas...sure enough he could so we called the If You Smell Gas number. So after DH called it in, the land lady called. We wondered how she knew about it so fast, but figure the gas company must have called her since everything is in her name. She got over as fast as she could and DH said to tell me she said thank you to me because I caught it. Apparently the people who mow the grass knicked something and it cracked so 2 gas company trucks showed up to repair it. They are gone now so hope all is ok.
Tomorrow I give my persuasive speech on Embryonic Stem Cell research and Thursday we give our group symposium and our chosen topic was should we be aware of the prophecies and what they project for the future? I am the moderator, I have to give a 5 minute speech as an overview and then I have to introduce the other speakers as my panel and then we all ask each other questions and then I close us out and open it up for the audience to ask questions...confused? me too. Our 4 end time prophecies to discuss are the global warming induced ice age, mayan calendar, nostradamus, and Biblical.
I got 3 more stops on my internet time and then gotta work on my group speech then revise and practice my persuasive speech....
Catch ya by next week.
