So remember the girl from yesterday that was going to speak on pro-embryonic stem cell research? Well today she instead talked on children watching too much tv (in excess of over 4 hours per day).
Later though in her group that was talking about unsolved mysteries, she was talking about topics in a book called Old Souls. Her main subject was a gal whose first words were Hi Leila. as this girl got older she was able to by the age of 5 give a phone number, her name, husbands name, 13 brothers' names, and her childrens names. The family was able to find these people and it turned out that who she claimed to be had been trying to call her daughter prior to having heart surgey. She died on the operating table having never reached her daughter by way of the phone. This girl met with the children and asked if they received specific items of jewelry upon her passing. She was also mad at the husband for having remarried and kept in contact with him and he with her mutually over the course of the rest of his lifetime. This gals mom before giving birth to her said a woman came to her in her dream and said she would be visiting her soon. Years later when they acquired a photo of the woman the little girl claimed to be, the mom said it was the woman who appeared to her in her dream. According to the scientist who wrote the book, reincarnation can happen to some not all people if they have unfinished business...so I posed the question and so did others that wouldn't this girl have gone back to herself when the woman "inside" her was finally able to talk to her daughter? Or like in many cases the children may just be sensitive and know these things they are told by - in my opinion demons - but as they get older would no longer be as sensitive to those things. Or it is possible that in some cases, not all, the parents are filling the child's head with these notions. Regardless of the why and how's, I want to share with you my point in saying all this. This gal in speech class said that the author of the book said that Judeo-Christian religion was the only one which didn't believe in reincarnation but that even their own Jesus talked about it in Matthew 11:10-14 and said that John the Baptist was Elijah and that HE wasn't speaking metaphorically.
Of course I looked up the passage. KJV was the Bible I had with me
10For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
11Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
12And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
13For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
14And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.
And I can see why a Nonnie (the author of this book is most likely not a believer, as in common among many misled scientist, I said many not all...so there) might think Jesus is saying John is Elijah. But we know that true Elijah never died but was just taken up to heaven in a chariot but we also know It is appointed unto men once to die and then comes the judgement. Jesus did not promote reincarnation...that John the Baptist came in the spirit and manner of Elijah.
AS this gals group was still speaking I hemmed and hawed as to whether I should say anything. I felt led to say something but not in front of everyone as to embarrass her, unlike the boy who embarrassed and put me on the spot yesterday did, so I waited until she was on her way to her seat to get her things before leaving. I know it is ok to be ignorant of the things in the Bible but it would have been wrong of me to stand idley by while this girl seemed to have believed what she read in that book.
I casually said, "You know I have an issue with your speech." I told her about the spirit and manner of Elijah and that Jesus was not teaching reincarnation. She agreed that the author could be wrong and there was no harm done. In one way I feel bad for having to say something but in another way I feel relieved to have said something...does that make sense?
OK now for those who are familiar with Anna's and Stephanie's weblogs and recent topics
One group's topic was Catastrophies
One gal said something interesting about a a compass and that there is true north and magnetic north...so in the event of needing to find your way and roads are blocked/not there....it would be good to know that and that a compass could be as much as 20 miles off depending on where you are...also good to know.
One guy (the one who embarrassed me) talked about YellowStone super volcano. He said millions of years ago the land mass of the U.S. moved over this volcano...that this volcano doesn't move but rather the land mass does. He said it used to be in low east Idaho and over the years moved to it's current location passing thru Wyoming to get there. Of course this was all before this was known as the U.S. He said that 2.2 million years ago it erupted and covered everything in ash.
After his speech we were allowed to ask questions. the concern was here in our area what would happen to us if it were to erupt....he said we would all be dead. He said the last time it blew about 6400 years ago and they have fossilized animals from the Nebraska area that have ash in their bones/lungs. He said that eruption wiped out everyone except 10-12,000 people and that is why we can trace our lineage back to the same few people. ( (is anyone else rolling there eyes?) )
He said the volcano erupts about every 6000 years...so we cuold be due for an eruption but things like hurricanes, earthquakes, and tornadoes would precede this eruption. Our teacher pointed out that we have been having an increased amount of those disasters. So the guy also said Old Faithful would be an indicator because it is always so regular and constant on it's spouts but lately it has been gushing sooner than normal...then he said it could be decades after these indicators started appearing before it would erupt.
he said when it did erupt it would effect the entire U.S. in that it would be covered in a foot of ash and anything w/in a 100 mile radius would be incinerated.
I am not sure how far away northern MO is from this super volcano but if we would all be dead....then other states closer to us would be also.
OK all of you who talk about YellowStone erupting...what are your findings?
Speaking of preparedness - anyone see Blast from the Past movie - the family lives underground for like 35 years complete with food, electricity, and water.
